With the current planning Elgg 2.0 will get a feature freeze in July 2015. Would there be developers interested in a hackathon somewhere in June to work on getting as much done for 2.0 in a few days? I thought maybe we could rent a house somewhere (Central Germany) for 2 or 3 nights and meetup with other developers. Just a braindump, but if more people like this idea (and would attend such a 'hackathon') just leave a comment

Sounds like we have a quorum around 4/10-4/11.
Who wants to post the official announcement? Do we need any more details?
We have the date, communication tool, that's enough for coding.
Also I was thinking about making milestone for the purpose of hackathon for folks to easily filter what's going one. Not sure it's that necessary. Would need someone with perms to assign stuff at all times to make this relatively up to date list. This way however we could easily look at what was touched and finished during hackathon I suppose.
I've been moving things to the 2.0.x milestone for this purpose
Yes! I'm glad to see this good action. I save the date !
Maybe some tools could help to prepare or will be usefull during this event (I don't know, it's just some ideas) :
- https://www.zenhub.io/ a trello-like on github for manage "who works on what"
- https://www.uservoice.com/ for decide collectively which features to add (power of the intelligence collective). This could be permanent for next releases. I made an elgg plugin which do same-things, for 1.8.
- https://c9.io/ and we code together in realtime
I discovered https://gitter.im/Elgg/Elgg. It seems well done ! Thank's for sharing this kind of tool :)
