we discussed (on github and in the community) how to configure elgg 1.9 for nginx previously and i did have a working config file here. however, i recently lost the config file while upgrading the local OS and have not been able to locate a working one in the community here or in github.
when i run the one i grabbed from a discussion in github, i just see 'pageok' in the browser window.
from what i can tell this may be related to a domain routing issue, rather than an nginx mis-configuration.. however, so far, i haven't found the cause of the issue.
can anyone point me in a helpful direction to get 1.9rc7 running with nginx?
thanks

thanks for these configs.. i just discovered that there was a misconfiguration within nginx itself on my dev machine, so that may have been part of my challenge here.
now though, the problem is that nginx is refusing to serve my 1.8 installation's homepage - instead it is attempting to list the index of the directory - yet it can't because autoindex is disabled.
the other pages of the site appear to be rendered ok.
any tips welcomed here!
Hi all, I´ve just test this config but it doesn´t work, is needed any other configuration in nginx.conf?, somebody has a working one?. I also tested the other configs published in this discussion.
Now I´ve Elgg1.8+Nginx+php5-fpm working perfectly, but in the same server I can´t achieve a working 1.9 installation.
Nobody has a working NGINX configuration to share?
Hi folks,
this is a serious issue. Is not possible to have 1.9.7 working with nginx. Can anyone help?
It is possible, you must be doing something wrong. Provide details on what you're trying and what errors do you get in server logs.
Hi Pawel, could you please share a nginx configuration file that works with 1.9.7? That information is missing from documentation, see: http://learn.elgg.org/en/1.9/intro/install.html#nginx. Could you improve that section of the manual?
FYI: when I run upgrade.php i got the error "you must update your .htaccess file so that the path is injected into the GET parameter __elgg_uri....". I commented the section of upgrade.php to avoid it, the script continue but I am unable to login.
Thanks a lot for your help.
@communia can you post your nginx.conf here?
@Pawel, these are my:
Nginx NOT working host configuration https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MgEjAvNvi3V052c1dTV09qU28/view?usp=sharing
Server log https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MgEjAvNvi3elJ6UE1zVEF1dDQ/view?usp=sharing
Can you help me??
@Pawel, @[cim],
here is my current nginx configuration: http://pastebin.com/phttSKQr
here is my nginx debug log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9688217/
I am no longer getting the error "ou must update your .htaccess file so that the path is injected into the GET parameter __elgg_uri....", but still can't login. I get redirected to index after trying to login.
Thanks for your help!
I finally managed to fix my configuration using this sample file: https://github.com/Germanaz0/Elgg/blob/feature/nginx-support/install/config/nginx.dist
It would be great to finish this: https://github.com/Elgg/Elgg/pull/7097
