Hi,
I've installed a new copy of elgg 1.5rc1 on GoDaddy:
For some reason all javascript functionality is not working. On my local xamp installation everything works, so I guess it has something to do with the godaddy environment.
When viewing the source I noticed that the links in the header are cached using the new simplecache. In addition new loaded profile images are shown as broken images as well (also going through the caching mechanism),
Any help will be appreciated,
Guy

S/cache of/on no change; data/ dir "777" can't see *any php/apache error logs files on godaddy (shared hosting? )
Does hitting upgrade.php change anything?
I suspect this is a problem with the cache/filepath cache not being able to write to the data dir.
Sorry Marcus, it doesn't make any difference
bewindered ;;;O
I've manually 'patched' for testing
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.kiddopages.com/elgg/_css/js.php/1236726204?js=initialise_elgg&viewtype=default"></script>
TO
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.kiddopages.com/elgg/_css/js.php/js=initialise_elgg&viewtype=default"></script>
i.e. deleted the "1236726204?" ( last cached )
and now "initialise_elgg"' gets pulled in and js events are ok @ "GoDaddy"
header.php shows :=
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo $vars['url']; ?>_css/js.php/<?php echo $vars['config']->lastcache; ?>?js=initialise_elgg&viewtype=<?php echo $vars['view']; ?>"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php echo $vars['url']; ?>_css/css.css?lastcache=<?php echo $vars['config']->lastcache; ?>&viewtype=<?php echo $vars['view']; ?>" type="text/css" />
I have not looked further to follow the trail for the _GET
"?lastcache=<?php echo $vars['config']->lastcache; ?>"
Neither js.php nor css.css (css.php?) -- fetch nor use "lastcache"
Puzzzle in why prpblem happens @GoDaddy not at other Server ?
I think this has got to be related to an issue related to the simplecache override being forced to true (can't remember the ticket number off the top of my head)
In short try RC2, i think i _might_ have fixed this...
nope ;-O i think -- i c/f rc1 & rc2 i saw no change in simplecache/view.php source
'course i didn't lookfurther after the header.php code.
( on the whole v1.5 is g-o-o-d 0 i like ;-O
No difference in RC2 - same problem persists
I wonder if this might be relevant. Apparently Godaddy can break some js:

@Guy
if you goto my test site http://www.kiddopages.com/elgg/
login as demo pw abcd1234 -you will see that ToolBar PullDowns work w/ patch I made to header.php.
