When I upload a profile icon I get the error:
Sorry; there was a problem uploading your profile picture.
I have debug turned on but the only suspicous thing I can see is:
Page /elgg15/pg/icon/sm00ay/master/.jpg generated in 0.380502939224 seconds
the following is present but empty in the data dir, so it's writeable:
s/m/0/0/a/sm00ay/profile/
the icon is a 39x67 jpg. I also tried a bigger 197x338 jpg.
Are there restrictions on the photos in any way?

I have mod_mime compiled into Apache. Any special things I need to compile into PHP?
ok, I can answer my own Q but I have these compiled into Apache and PHP:
* The Apache web server needs to be installed with the following
modules:
o mod_rewrite
o PHP
* MySQL 5+ is needed for data storage
* PHP 5.2+ needs to be installed as an Apache module (not in CGI
mode or safe mode) with the following libraries:
o GD (for graphics processing, eg user icon rescaling)
o JSON (for API functionality)
Hi Codebrane,
I found that the user deletion error you mentioned earlier corrupted my database and I had to drop the tables and re-install. (No big deal).
Can you still view your user admin page? Perhaps you might try a re-install as well and then check this problem again?
thanks Kevin. This is a fresh reinstall.
imagecreatefromjpeg() does not exist so it can't call it! I'll compile lib-jpeg into PHP but it'll take a while as the source won't compile on OS X! That's the prob though.
@kevin The fragments left by the user deletion error are cleaned up by the GC, so it might be good to trigger the garbage collector...
