Hello
I was wondering if there was any way to display the items in the tools menu in a box on the dashboard, e.g. under the "New Wire Post" box when using the river dashboard?
The reason I ask is I think this would be more intuitive for users instead of having to go to the "Tools" menu every time they wanted to do something.
Is this possible?
Cheers

One good thing to do is to implement a Guide Tour, this is a great option for that... because lots of people does not understand the interface in the very first time

In fact it would be great if someone can create a plugin with this, so the Guided Tour is something easy to implement for everybody, that would give Elgg a lot of usability for new users.

@Juan -- sounds like *you just volunteered to start a "Guided Tour To The Elgg Community" LOL ;-O)
I kinda copied the about section here to highlight the features on my site, and put a big link above the large register here image on the front page.
I do like that idea. But instead of one box explaining the whole page. Bubbles highlighting the important features would work better.
Definately a better idea than mine I was working on an page that popped up explanatory video chunks on mouseovers but that would probably be far less work...
Yes, even a "You know that..." module that displays a different tip about how to use Elgg in each page´s footer would be nice
I agree - anyone want to make a list up and I'll do it for the idiots Guide..
I think more emphasis should be put on notifications. They are useful when you know how to use them.
@johnnyspade - love to see the CSS - esp which views/where.
Cheers
