After I enter the System settings (upon initial setup) it redirects to a 404 Page not found.
Here is the page after redirection: http://myDomain.com/action/systemsettings/install
Note that the "/action" directory is actually "/actions" on my server. I tried again by renaming "actions" to "action" on the server but still no sucess. Also note that the URL makes it look like the page to be redirected too is in an "/install" directory off "/systemsettings". When I looked at the "systemsettings" directory there is an install.php script file present but not an /install directory.
Unsure how to continue with the install.

You must log in to post replies.Tried again this morning. No success. Either elgg 1.6.1 is not yet ready for production or it truly does required MySQL 5+ (see my post from yesterday at http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=321754&group_guid=179063)
I encourage you to read the docs carefully before posting here:
http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Install_Troubleshooting
Thanks Kevin.
Began to read the doc per the url you posted. Right off the bat, in technical requirements, again the system states the need for MySQL 5+. I was curious per my very first post (http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=321754&group_guid=179063) whether I could actually use the system running MySQL 4.1.19.
I will conclude that I can't run elgg since (a) the technical requirements mandate MySQL 5+, and (b) no one is able to substantiate that the system can run in MySQL 4+.
Thanks again...
It is possible to run elgg on earlier addition of mysql. the problem with the action/actions thing is not to do with mysql. You have a mod rewrite problem. Elgg is not calling for the actions folder it is calling for an action defined in the mod rewrite.
Make sure you have your paths set correctly.
The problem you mentioned above is clearly a mod_rewrite problem, nothing to do with your database.
But I think that you are correct that your MySQL version might become an issue as well.
Got elgg running! Yea.
It was an apache httpd.conf conflict -- apache was configure at AllowOverride none
I added a Directory directive for AllowOverride all (per the instructions at http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Install_Troubleshooting) and was able to move forward and register myself as a user.
So far so good...
And we are running under MySQL 4.
I think you will have no problems as long as you are running a very small community. With a large one you would start to notice data base problems. I have elgg running on my development environment and it is on mysql 4. My production site runs on 5.
"hottie95" -- are you suggesting that we need MySQL 5 for a "large community" then? Also, can you differentiate (in relative or approx size) between a small and large community? Thanks.
Hello every body,
I changed in my website: http://lapapaya.org in advanced settings the homepage to http://lapapaya.org/home/register/
Since that we had a bucle in the system. Finally i could go inside and change the redirect, but now we lose the templete and i cant get inside the website.
Any sugestion?
