Hi,
I've got a lot o trouble when trying to upgrade elgg from 1.5 to 1.7
1. Afeter uploading files (1.7) to 1.5 and running upgrade.php, there is a elgg logo on the center of the screen and after some time I've got 500 server error....
2. I've lost polish national signs in 1.7. MySQL backup application I use is 100% transparent, so the problem is in elgg.
I really need help :(((
Is there anybody who can solve my problems?
How long update should take? (I mean time from start upgrade.php to end)
(sorry for my english ;))

I've got a question about this problem.
At http://trac.elgg.org/ticket/2123 there is an information, that this problem is fixed, but I still don't know how to copy or restore data from user with national characters to 1.7.1
I can't make another upgrade from 1.5 :(
How to do this (if it's a problem I can do it manualy but I need some help from your side)
@mostekkk - This upgrade will run separately from the 1.5 upgrade. It's in 1.7.2, so if you try the 1.7.2 beta (on a test server, and make a backup, please!) you'll be able to see if it works for you.
Ok, so I understand, that upgrade is one and only solution for this problem?
I'll wait for final version of 1.7.2 (when it will be available?)
It's the best solution we've found. I wouldn't recommending trying to cherry pick out the update. 1.7.2 will be released in the next week or so.
I see that there is 1.7.2 available now - so when I will make an update data from users with national characters will be restored?
I don't think it should restore data directories for users that had their data directories corrupted. Very sorry about that. It will correctly handle those who haven't run the the 1.7.0 upgrade.
It should be possible to write a script that restores those data directories or it could be done manually. How many users does this effect?
Thank you for your answer :)
Currently only 5 users have this issue. I can even do it manually but I don't know how....
Okay, here is a script that you can put in your root directory, enter a username, and run it to find the new directory for that user. Then you can create that directory and move the files in there.
