Hi everyone. I am new to Elgg having used joomla in the past.
I need to find out if you can create sub groups under groups. I.e. Say you have a group concerning Cars. I would then propose sub groups of all the different makes of cars relevant to Cars i.e. Aston Martin, Volvo, BMW etc. Members could then join the sub group say Aston Martin. Is it then possible to create a further sub sub group say Cars> Aston Martin> DB9, DB7 AMV8 etc?
Thanks Chris

You must log in to post replies. No, not in core Elgg. But there are plugins that provide this kind of feature.
Hi Kevin. Many Thanks. Which category is best to look in under plugins or better still do you have any details of a particular plug in which would work.
Thanks Chris
Groups extended provides some provision for sub groups (or groups as members of groups), but it is a bit out of date now and I never really had that bit of it working... though I really want that function in 1.7.1 now, and the plugn does not support it. The developer has mentioned an intention to rework it, but we'll have to wait and see.
Many Thanks for response. Its a shame elgg cannot support this nested feature. Group extended doesnt really do what I need as above. However Kevin thought there might be such a plugin.
Chris, If you get anywhere with this... or someone out there can code it, please keep me in the loop. Ta, Mark
There is only 1 plugin I can think of that does close to what you say. Groups extended as Kevin says.
