You must log in to post replies.Your problem isn't Elgg, but globally bad (I think so) configured server. Did you try to test static HTML pages, of plain PHP?
Do you have caching turned on in Elgg after designing the layout?
How would I test php and if u mean simple catch yes I have it on
Hi,
I moved my site from a shared server to a similar VPS recently. Performance on the shared server was bad and so I hoped for an improvement on the VPS. It worked for a few days, but then the site was very slow out of a sudden yesterday. Also not many members online. When I logged in via ssh I got a "fork: Resource temporarily unavailable" error. I suspect that restrictive ulimit settings might be the problem. After some hours performance improved on its own again. I have not made any changes to ulimit settings yet.
Do you have for example "Fork Bomb Protection" or something like this enabled? If you find out more about the cause of the bad performance I would like to hear it.
i'm stumped virtualman set up my server not sure what to do from here...do i start over?
@Nes: Hire admin and have configured server - it's The Right Way (tm)
You can try this website. Just put your website URL into it.
