Well, it's mainly for the iPhone, but if you're using a HTML5 browser, it should work too.
I just finished the first two pages of my Elgg client (showing off before my battery dies!). I *MIGHT* submit it to the App Store. Basically, you'll be able to do what you do on the regular site on your mobile too. You'll just type in the URL and log in. No plugin will be needed on the other end, but I'll have it so it looks for a specific CSS file or it takes a few elements from the current theme.

So, have you created new wrapper under a new view called 'mobile' or something and putting the tidy new plugin sturcture for Elgg sites?
sweet!
@Shouvik Mukherjee
I haven't gotten that far yet, still working on the static structure.
is this plugin available anywhere?
@Jessica: After about 1 years' passing - you must have something that can be illustrated here ;-)
@Jessica wow, pretty awesome screenshots!
@ Jessica, those screen shots look great! I would love to try this if it's available somewhere
