Is it possible to have just 1 group that registered users join automatically when registering, and a set number of discussion catgories which all members of the group can read/post to?
If it is possible, can someone show me how?
much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Sad to see that no discussion has taken place after 515 days. Or, has it been discussed elsewhere by any chance?
I have this opn my site... everyone who joins gets automatically joined to 3 site groups... there is a plugin for that! http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/384425/developer/Phil/autosubscribe-to-group
There is another plugin http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/384587/developer/pjuvekar/post-user-login-update-plugin which can add a named user as a friend of everyone when they first log in.
Shillo, there's already a forum plugin which implements sitewide forum for Elgg, you can find it here.
Does the plugin that Mark Bridges talked about allow more than one person to be connected automatically - meaning having more than one person be connected to all members automatically?
Webnovice, last time I checked it was not supported (only one person could join), although could be easily added by modifying method in start.php. The modifications is quite simple.
I agree with Mike. I think it is only on person. It would be great to see this modified to allow more though, rather like the groups auto add plugin.
Thanks, mike and mark. I sure will check it.
I want only one group, a common group, to be automatically added.
@Mark Bridges.
I uploaded both the plugins you've suggested, and both work well. The developers of both have done something really desired for an Elgg site.
Thanks again.
