As you might have seen here I'd like to embed Google Docs into elgg.
As there seems to be no plugin for this (at the moment?), i tried to paste the embed code from google docs into a pages html code. but it seems that elgg cleans this up.
can anyone tell me how to embed google docs into an elgg page ?

No, not exactly ... I'd like to have more than just PDF and Powerpoint support and of course i'd liek to edit the documents.
any help ?
Isn't there a possibility to get this working?
I really love to see a solution for this ...

I've been thinking about this lately, and it presents some interesting problems. Users have to use the google framework to share documents, and to do that, they need to log in with their google ID. This presents some potential issues with authentication; for example, do we really want users to have to use a google id in order to use our site? And furthermore, having google docs available only to those who used a google account to register doesn't seem to be a very good option. How do we handle associating a google doc with a group in a way that allows all group members to automatically have access?
All are interesting questions that make the problem a bit difficult.
Anyone else have other ideas? I have a feeling that the real goal is to have editable documents within elgg -- at least spreadsheets and documents.

any ideas?
We're working on a simple google document embed for a client right now, without use of API. We may implement API in the future. I will try to post a comment here about outcome and our approach when the plugin is finished.
@idiotter: I just released a plugin which might meet your needs. Check out Smart Files at http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/603028/developer/aszepeshazi/smart-files
