Dear Kevin, I need to translate datapicker to spanish
I ve added a ui.datepicker-es.js to my calendar mod directory and included in metatags.php the folowing code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo $vars['url']; ?>mod/event_calendar/ui.datepicker-es.js"></script>
I ve tested it on clean elgg 1.7.7 instalation only with standard modules. While creating new event datapicker is wonderfully translated to spanish but.... the event date is 1 Jan 1970.
Nightmare.
This can not be conected with datapicker from any other module as my instalation is brand new just for this calendar test purposes.
Here is a link to spanish js http://code.google.com/p/listr/source/browse/trunk/listr/lib/js/ui/i18n/ui.datepicker-es.js?spec=svn26&r=26
I hope you can test it, as you ve been conecting this error with datapicker conflict with other modules and clearly it is not the point.
Please help us to solve this problem, as this problem is one of the most comented in this group. I do understand that many people do not care as they use it as is in english, but i guess as a developer you want to make this mod accesible internationaly.
many thanks.

Hi Kevin, so many thanks for all your work with these useful tools.
I want to join Martinez with the same problem, when i try to traslate the .js, its show in date event 1969 or 1970
thanks
Kevin, you seem to ignore this problem, i know it has been already investigated but as i said at this ocasion, it is not a matter of conclict with other plugin, it is a bug. please read my previous message.
The datepicker works fine in English. If you have introduced a problem when creating a translation, then I'm afraid that it is your bug, not mine!
If you fix the bug and want to send me a patch, please do so.
I didn t translate them, they comes from jQuery UI Datepicker repository http://jquery-ui.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ui/i18n/ Why don t you just try them out to find out whether there are woring or not, you could include thou several langueges in your next relase, not interested?
This could solve problem of many users on this forum.
The good folks at UNESCO have just sent me event calendar translations for Spanish and French. They have also changed the JS include to something slightly less compact but easier to customise.
I'm putting together a new release and expect to upload it early next week.
Wonderfull. Hopefully it s gonna solve our problems.
I've uploaded the new release:
http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/release/698410/developer/kevin/event-calendar
Thanks for new relase. As the month names are now listed in unpacked js i understand that i can modify them directly here?
I made a little change in order to test it (renamed March to Marzo) and after this while adding a new event the date apears as 1970. Can you reproduce this error? I think this is a bug.
Again elgg brand new instalation with only standard modules.
Perhaps the problem is that the PHP strtotime function only understands English?
Martinez, I don't think that we disagree that this is a bug or at least a current limitation. The clients who funded this plugin wanted an English version. I've provided it on elgg.org for free. If you want to add more features (such as supporting more languages), then you will need to either do that yourself or fund someone to do it.
As I've repeatedly said: I'm happy to accept patches.
Interesting to see that PHP 5.3 has introduced the date_parse_from_format ( string $format , string $date ) function which apparently is multilingual.
