im trying to install elgg on byethost free hosting
i gave the database details correctly yet i get the following error
"
Check your database settings again as Elgg could not connect and access the database. "
what could be the problem?

You must log in to post replies.Make sure you have the right path to connect to your database. Also, check if you can access your database, sometimes during maintainance databases are not reachable.
If everything is correct, try talking to your hosting provider.

It is not worth trying to get Elgg to run on free hosting. If you'd like to try it out, better to install it on your computer using XAMPP or something similar.
ya it was my host name was wrong.... figured it out.. thnx guys...
I'd agree with Cash - if you want to support a social network with more than say 3 people, free hosting is not going to do it.
