that plugin is specifically to customize '404' server error pages - you should give yourself some time too browse thru that. the only other way will be to dig into the apache internals for handling error pages and customize error pages accordingly. - tho that will require sufficient know-how of how apache works.
can't you do this by creating a 404.shtml? I just did it the other day :P
yes you can, its actually not all that difficult to do. Problem is that it takes a bit of time to style it to match your theme if you do it that way.
