I notice that when it comes to themes that elgg is a bit behind. Now why is it that themes are so limited and are not updated by those who had previously created them? Is it that elgg change their coding too often for developers/designers to keep up with?
I search google for themes for elgg and most of them are for 1.7 and majority are not updated. Why dont elgg have a theming market with active development?

You must log in to post replies.actually elgg 1.8 is new and most of the people are running 1.7, other thing is that few theme and plugin owners left elgg or got busy in their life
1. Elgg 1.8 was released in September and Elgg 1.8.1 was released a few days ago. A lot of people wait for .1 releases before updating sites/plugins.
2. Elgg 1.8 completely redid the html/css of Elgg. It introduced a CSS framework and made the html much easier to work with. The downside is that themes from earlier versions won't work with Elgg 1.8. (And this should not be a common occurrence. A theme from 1.8 should work in 1.9 whenever it is released.)
Thanks for the reply @Cash and @imoni. I like the fact that the same themes will be able to work in 1.9 also.
I am hoping that i will get use to elgg so i can contribute to this community too.
@Flexx : Welcome to ELGG :) :D
