Hi,
I have done a fresh install of 1.8 to try it out and for some reason every time I click edit profile it just sends me back to the dashboard, I have tried doing it with diffrent themes aswell but still get the same result.
Has this happend to anyone else?
Cheers

Disable all the themes you are using (and all third party plugins). Check it with a default modules only.
yea i did that at the start, i didnt have any other plugins in the mod folder only what came with elgg, and it still just takes me to the dashboard, i created another, non-admin, account and it does the same :s
should i just delete it all and start again?
cheers
I am wondering if your path to the data directory is correct?
just double checked it and it seems to be right, it created a few files in there when i installed elgg aswell
When weird things happen, the best first step is to copy the original code over again.
just deleted everything and re installed it from scratch, still redirects me to dashboard :S
would i have to create the profile fields first and thats why its messed up or should it work without me adding any?
It should work with a fresh install. Are you seeing redirects anywhere else?
You problem is most likely Permissions / Accesses on the Profile/action folder - Check that; Seems Apache cannot find http://YourDomain.com/profile/admin/edit.
nope, i have gone through it all, posted on the wire, posted a blog, created a group with a group image, created a avatar. the only thing that does not work is 'edit my profile'
the folders permissions are 755 and the edit.php file is 644
