If you're not sure it won't hurt to copy them again. It's a bugfix/point release so there shouldn't be much visible change - it's mostly on the back end. Look at your site statistics page, that should tell you the release version you're running.
In the admin Dashboard, it still says 1.8.8, and the /upgrade.php does really not give any feedback if the update worked. I think there's some usability that could be added to that, or am I doint sth wrong/
@Sebastian:
when executing upgrade.php you should see the loader image for a few seconds indicating the upgrade is running. I don't know if errors that prevent the upgrade from completing are logged in your server log. You might want to check if for any relevant entries nonetheless. Are you sure all files on Elgg 1.8.9 are on your server? What version is shown in version.php in your Elgg root directory? There should be a line "$release = '1.8.9';". If there's another version shown, it might be a sign that the necessary files of Elgg 1.8.9 are not on your server and consequently "version 1.8.8" will be shown in the admin dashboard after executing upgrade.php...
For reference, errors during upgrade are logged to the screen so you should know immediately if anything went wrong.
I'm using 1.8.9 on my site and its just plain fantastic! Thanks to all devs!
I just installed 1.8.9 to try out...
It seems that Profile fields are shown to everybody, no matters the Access Control setting ! Does anyone have seen this behaviour ? Regards.
