im actually building some accounting plugins for a client. One major issue is that you have to save doubles and floats in a string table column. So it's not ideal at all.
mark: tell me.. u r *not using floats to store financial data ?
im using string columns in metastrings table to store financial data, which is bad. Anyway, in php, floats and doubles are all the same...
Mark, the point is that floats are not suitable at all for financial data, because of rounding issues. That is common knowledge in programming. You must always use integers to avoid rounding issues.
@hellekin - in php doubles and floats are the same, both implemented the same way in C as a double. round() returns a float, so thats what i use...
kinda 'well known' -> floats r *not exact precision* for money$ ? you clients gonna lose $$$$ eventually !
