I'm working on elgg for the first time. Is there an easy way to import a list to create groups?
I am also very interested in map data and mobile-aware plugins or development that others are involved in.

You must log in to post replies.I don't believe there's anything existing for importing a list of groups. There is a plugin for importing a csv of users, it would be very similar structure in terms of the settings page, the file upload function, the only real difference would be on the entity creation - create groups instead of users.

Arck team has already created a modification for groups:

Thank you Ismayil - are you the developer? I installed the plugin, however I am getting this error on start.php:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function elgg_register_event_handler() in /home/greaterb/public_html/elgg/mod/upload_groups-master/start.php on line 37
I looked up that function and it seems like it should work, because I am running elgg 1.8.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Try renaming the plugin to "upload_groups" before enabling.
Hey Team Webgalli,
Thanks - tried that, and am still getting:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function elgg_register_event_handler() in /home/greaterb/public_html/elgg/mod/upload_groups/start.php on line 37
elgg_register_event_handler() is an essential core function, not sure how it couldn't be defined.
Try disabling all mods by creating folder in your mod directory called 'disabled' - then you can enable/disable them at will without them actually loading to see if it is actually due to plugin (though I can't see how...)
If you still get that error then it's not plugin related, you may need to validate your core code.
Are you sure you are on Elgg 1.8.X? are you able to enable other plugins? Try replacing your code with a new download of 1.8
