Hey guys i was hoping that someone could suggest to me what is the best editing software for the lastest Elgg installment? Currently i`m using XAMPP to see and edit my sites on the local machine but I keep have to reinstall it and running into issues for some reason. Is there one software that is more efficient for this?

if you're on a mac, it's called MAMP. since your'e on a mac, download sublime text 2
@Mr Achiever
Which XAMPP version are you using? XAMPP 1.7.3 is the best one, newer versions have a weird problem (Mac Only)
didn't know xampp had a mac version lol
@Cim lol it does, but some versions won't work :(
@rjcalifornia I started using the latest XAMPP version and yes I noticed that there was some wired things going on with it. SO in the last couple of weeks I started using XAMPP 1.7.3 version. But I noticed with this version my MySQL didn't always connect.
if you're on a mac, you should just use MAMP (mac, apache, mysql, php) and keep things simple.
I use Mac and Liux, and so use MAMP and XAMPP a lot - mainly for testing local Moodle sites.
Yes, MAMP is generally a little easier than XAMPP.
For editing text files I tend to use TextEdit (Mac default app), or CSSEdit (my fav) - TextWrangler and Komodo Edit are also options.
Not sure why you are having to 'reinstall' the *AMP packages though?
Just updating the main app should be OK :-)
if you use linux then use LAMP lol
@Stuart Oh yeah I forgot about TextWrangler, it is good :)
