Elgg Twitter Service App Registration

Could anyone please tell me the precise format to register the Twitter app for the Elgg TwitterService plugin which lets members to export their wire messages to Twitter?

I want to know what format, call-back url, etc.

  • Did you read the README.txt file in the mods/twitterservices dir?  Also, there's some documentation on the wiki: http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/ConfiguringTwitterServices_(Admin) and http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/ConfiguringTwitterService_(User)

  • Brett:

I've read the README in mods/twitterservices. And I've created our site's registration; w. key & secret. Unfortunately the two links to Elgg's wiki are empty.

Is there someplace else I can find  supplimentry documentation onconfiguring Twitterservices for sites & users?

The Twitterservices mod is still giving me a hard time completing it's configuration. To date every time I've tried activating it Elgg crashes and throws up this PHP error message:

"Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class OAuthException in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.org/ httpdocs/elgg/mod/twitterservice/vendors/twitteroauth/OAuth.php on line 8"

I just defined our site as "Public" on the Site Configuration page. (Thanks to jessicabrock for her reply here: http://community.elgg.org/discussion/view/40956/twitterservice-plugin-not-working-at-all-for-me-please-help-d)

Our Elgg site is currently 1.7.11. We're  upgrading it up to 1.7.19 so we can safely upgrade again to 1.8.xx.

More support for installing and configuring the Twitterservices 1.7.4 plugin might help more Elgg admins upgrade from 1.7.xx to 1.8.xx before 1.9 gets released.

  • Brett:

I'm stuck in a loop and I don't see an obvious way out.

I can't configure Twitterservices with the site's key & secret because every time I activate the plugin the site crashes. It's always the same error:

"Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class OAuthException in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.org/ httpdocs/elgg/mod/twitterservice/vendors/twitteroauth/OAuth.php on line 8"

Is there some way to configure the Twitterservices mod  to get around the oAuthException error without enabling it?

    Got any ideas?
