I used the search bar on right of page but found nothing about this in previous posts.
The wire > twitter api link was working. Items posted to the wire got sent to twitter as an update via the custom application.
This stopped working. Nothing changed in the setup or configuration, they had not been touched.
In diagnosis & attempts to fix, I removed my authorization in elgg, and twitter, and tried to re-auth, after logging in to both twitter and elgg in the browser. I get two errors:
Unable to authorize Twitter
You need to login to view this content or the content has been removed or you do not have permission to view it
I logged into dev.twitter.com, nothing has changed there, app still listed, read & write support. The consumer Key & Consumer Secret match what is in the twitter api settings page in elgg administration.

@RvR Do you use that twitter widget in elgg?

@rjcalifornia We're using more widgets ;) One of them is my Twitter Widget Pack
In above reply I've tried to say that Twitter API (like bundled plugin) is works with any widgets and/or another solution, e.g. 'a crossposting via TheWire'
Also, we've the reworked Twitter widget (you can see it on the posted link too)
The wire posts > twitter is what we used so that is good news.
I will update to 1.8.16
Thank you to everyone for the help. Hopefully my next post is with a working twitter api connection
After upgrade to 1.8.16 I was able to successfully authorize the app link, and wire posts are forwarded to twitter like normal
Thanks again everyone
