It seems there is now a 3.0 stable release for this plugin, so this RC3 is superseded.
However, unfortunately, I cannot get any release of this plugin to work for me, and I have tried on two different hosts. I've put a description of my experience in the Github repo issue list. It would be great to be able to use this plugin, as I consider the "folder" feature in particular a high priority for our use of Elgg. (The ability to use the other features would be great, too!)
Hopefully a stable AND working version of this plugin will be available soon.
@David , Which version of elgg version are you installing the File Tools v3.0.0-rc.3? elgg 2.3 stable version or elgg 3.0 testing version?
Hi Tom - I'm usiing Elgg 2.3.8 (stable). But good news!
It turns out that all I needed to do was flush the Elgg cache from the main Admin page. I did that and, boom!, File Tools did what it said it would do, and I was very happy and relieved.
I spent some hours on this, but at least I'm learning more about Elgg. :)
What I learned: (1) The file_tools plugin does what it's supposed to do; (2) it needs Composer to install (it would be good to know if that is incorrect). And (3) if the plugin is enabled before the dependencies are installed, you may well need to flush the Elgg cache (at least, I did!).
