In this Elgg Beginners group we WILL:

  • point you in the right direction, provide references and examples
  • walk you through the process of achieving the goal and help you succeed by answering your questions as you face difficulties
  • try to explain the reasoning and logic behind certain snippets of code, as well as explain Elgg and the functionalities available in its core
  • attempt to use less technical knowledge and be as patient as possible
In return, we would appreciate you respecting the following rules:
  • before posting to the group:
  • search the community site to see if your question has already been aswered (there is a search bar in the topbar)
  • try to find an answer in Elgg documentation (link is available in the topbar)
  • see if the functionality you are trying to achieve has already been implemented by one of the plugins available in this community or internet
  •  when posting to the group:
  • please specify your knowledge of programming languages and general level of comfort with writing a code
  • please be as clear as possible with respect to what you are trying to achieve
  • provide us with any references you have found online, any snippets of code you have written
  • provide us with any examples of desired functionality
  • after posting to the group:
  • please follow all of the steps described in an answer(s) precisely before posting again
  • if posting again, please specify what part of the answer is unclear, what challenges you are experiencing in implementing the solution etc.
  • after achieving the result:
  • please take time to post your final solution
  • if building a plugin, please consider posting the final result to the community repository
