Elgg Blog: Elgg 1.8.1 released
Elgg 1.8.1 is now available for download at http://www.elgg.org/. 197 tickets were closed between 1.8.0 and this release so a lot of work has gone into this version. A high level change log is available here.

Nice But What is Then what is elgg 1.8.0.1? And elgg 1.8.1 why elgg not release elgg 1.8.0.2???? Please Explain iam in doubt? Elgg 1.8.0.1 and Elgg 1.8.1?
1.8-B1, 1.8, 1.8.0, 1.8.0.1 -- the numbering is simply the accepted standard software engineering versioning system ('taxonomy';)

1.8.0.1 had a single bug fixed in 1.8.0. We typically don't use a fourth version number.

i think that the 1.8.1 sprites or their posn x-y are changed --
got a theme i was working on that now has strange differetn bg images coming thru ;-P
They did change - clear your cache/do a hard refresh.
nope -did recover though -- problem was that i (silly) had copied entire views folder/s to recreate 1.8's theme as a standalone - to then customize from that point. should have omitted some/lots of areas that are not really so much for customising. (like !sprites" lolz) my test theme's css was still pointing to older icons sprites and so on ;-) developer lesson to learn here ;-oO
True. If you want to copy the sprite css into a plugin, you should also copy the corresponding sprite image.
QED ;-) i had the sync all out of whack and got => imagine elgg with all the wrong sprite sub-parts lolz !!
are elgg sprites changed in 1.8.1??????
We added more sprites in 1.8.1. If your browser has cached the old sprite image, you need to do a refresh.
No actually I used facebook theme on elgg 1.8.1 but I am getting wrong icons
The theme should have extended the css/elements/icons view rather than overriding it.
Yes I got it, I replaced all facebook theme icon css with elgg icon css

Flexx which theme you are using? If facebook theme so I have uploaded it today. check in plugins
@imoni I was using a different theme on 1.7. Started using facebook theme on 1.8. Im loving 1.8 ALOT!
